The Home from Home expat shop has announced that it will be hosting a special fundraising "Sausage Sizzle" in support of efforts to combat Australia's bushfires this Saturday 25 January from 11:00 at its premises on Route d'Arlon in Strassen.

A decade of drought and soaring temperatures have caused the worst bushfire season on record. So far approximately 170,000 km2 of bushfires have been lost - almost half the size of Germany. It has claimed almost 30 lives and and destroyed thousands of homes, businesses and farms. It has also been estimated that 1.25 billion animals have been killed, injured or displaced.

During the fundraising BBQ at Home from Home, tickets for the Australian and New Zealand Club of Luxembourg's Tombola will also be on sale: this raffle offers lots of prizes from many firms and individuals.

Charities supported are RSPCA Australia (for animal rescue and care; https://bushfires.rspca.org.au/) and the Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal (for community rebuilding and support including mental health; https://www.frrr.org.au/bushfires). Both are registered charities and operate nationally.
