The HSBC in Luxembourg has donated €10,000 to SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde for its renewable energy project in Uganda.

The HSBC in Luxembourg has been deeply involved with SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde activities since 2008. Over the years, the financial institution has contributed to many projects in various fields, such as education, community development and emergency assistance, and in different countries, including Guinea, Haiti, Lebanon, Nepal, Niger, Senegal, Syria and Tanzania.

In addition to the actions undertaken internally by employees of HSBC in Luxembourg and their voluntary participation in SOS events, several employees have been involved since 2014 in the sports and solidarity challenges organised by the association, for instance in Tanzania and Nepal. This year, Koen Quintens, Head of Global Liquidity and Cash Management at HSBC in Luxembourg, joined the Uganda Challenge.

On 24 April, Niccolo Polli, Country CEO of HSBC, together with his long-time collaborators and SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, invited two representatives of the association, Director Sophie Glesener and Partnership Manager Anne Schweizer, to present them with a cheque. HSBC added an additional donation to the €6,458.33 raised by Koen Quintens to reach the sum of €10,000.

This money will be awarded to a solar panel project that will guarantee the SOS Children's Village in Entebbe a continuous stream of energy thanks to renewable energy that respects the environment.
