Park Inn by Radisson Luxembourg City has raised €1,344 for SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde.

On 2 April 2019, Marc Schwamberger, General Manager of Park Inn by Radisson Luxembourg City, presented a cheque to the Director of SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde, Sophie Glesener, and to the Partnership Manager, Anne Schweizer. The sum of €1,344 collected since June 2018 from customers and employees will go towards the SOS Children's Village Kankan in Guinea, a village that the hotel also sponsors.

On the occasion of the cheque presentation, Marc Schwamberger stated: "The SOS projects reflect our hotel's commitment to give a smile to disadvantaged children and enable them to change their future - anything is possible". Indeed, the hotel began its partnership with the association one year ago.

The local SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde team in Kankan, in eastern Guinea, accompanies more than 100 children to the village on the path of life and also supports families in the community. Whilst the Guinean government ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990, SOS has argued that these rights are not a priority in this country where the population struggles on a daily basis for survival. Extreme poverty primarily affects women and children; it is estimated that more than 400,000 children grow up without their parents. Violence, forced marriages, childbirth and female genital mutilation persist.

The SOS teams work on four sites, Kankan, Conakry, Labé and N'Zérékoré, to ensure not only the safety and well-being of children but also that of their families.
