The 2019 edition of the Russian Charity Ball has raised a total of €48,000, split equally between Luxembourg charity SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde and the SUNFLOWER Charity Foundation in Russia.

During the reception of the ball, held on 27 March 2019, Vsevolod Iampolski, President of the Russian Club of Luxembourg, and the Committee of the Russian Charity Ball presented two cheques each worth €24,000 to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde and the SUNFLOWER Charity Foundation, respectively.

This money, raised at the 8th ball held on 19 January 2019 at Cercle Cité, will be used to strengthen the SOS Family Support Centre in Pskov, Russia. Opened in 2014 at the SOS Children's Village in Pskov, the Family Support Centre is currently the only social home in the region that hosts women with children in crisis situations. In six years, it has housed 37 mothers and 56 children and has enabled the vast majority of these single-parent families to find a lasting solution for their social reintegration. It has also been used to provide psychological counseling to a hundred children living in the home or benefiting from a family strengthening program. In addition, the social home - a third home was recently introduced in the children's village - can now accommodate families with fathers.

As usual, the award ceremony was held in the salons of the Residence of the Russian Embassy in the presence of His Excellency Victor Sorokin and Deputy Prime Minister Etienne Schneider. Placed under their high patronage as well as that of Mayor Lydie Polfer, this year's charity event wasdedicated to the famous writer and Russian poet Alexander Pushkin on the 220th anniversary of his birth.

Since 2012, the event has raised €374,000 for children and families in need and children with health problems.
