Luxembourg’s Ministry of the Economy recently announced the extension of the temporary environmental impact aid scheme, for a period of seven months, until June 2025.
The temporary environmental impact aid scheme is aimed at encouraging companies to invest in measures that substantially improve their environmental impact, for example through increasing energy efficiency, producing energy from renewable sources, reducing water consumption and pollution, and recycling and reusing waste.
The substantial improvement in the environmental impact of the company must be assessed by an independent expert, approved in the field.
Any company with a business permit can apply for this aid, to cover part of the costs related to investments in tangible assets, such as machinery and equipment, photovoltaic panels and the extension or renovation work on buildings used for craft or commercial activities. The company is obliged to seek advice from the House of Sustainability which will advise on the choice of expert as well as supporting the company, free of charge, in the application process.
The maximum amount of aid per project cannot exceed:
- 70% of eligible investments for small businesses;
- 60% of eligible investments for medium-sized businesses;
- 50% of eligible investments for large businesses.
The maximum investment is €100,000 per group and the minimum is €7,500 per group.
The revised deadline for the receipt of applications is Monday 30 June 2025.
