The European Management Assistants (EUMA) has officially changed its name to International Management Assistants (IMA).
Following the unanimous decision to transition to an international network last year at the EUMA’s Annual General Meeting, the association has started by changing its name to IMA - International Management Assistants.
Founded in 1974 by Sonia Vanular, EUMA (now IMA) is an international quality network of management support professionals, who focus on personal development and on the future changes in the profession. Among the association’s main aims are the encouragement of its members' individual development and the constant evolution of the management support profession.
Already represented in 25 European countries, the association realised the growing interest of professionals beyond Europe, having received membership requests from countries such as Turkey, Russia and the Arab Emirates. For professionals around the globe, EUMA is considered an international association bringing technological, economic and social benefits.
With the profession of management assistants undergoing major changes to embrace the digitalisation of the business world and new working methods, the association aims to stay ahead of future developments to meet the requirements of both current members and to attract future generations. As such, EUMA has to gain access to new industries and markets, and to achieve this, the members voted in favour of the name change.
Else-Britt Lundgren, the association’s Executive Chairperson, stated that: “This change is a historical moment for our network. It will help us to move forward into the future and be the number one international network of management support professionals”.
In Luxembourg, the national group celebrated this occasion on 1 February with a dinner-cocktail in the Hôtel Le Royal.
