From Friday 21 to Sunday 23 March 2025, the latest fixtures in Luxembourg’s basketball Enovos Leagues took place, with the men’s teams competing in the quarter-finals and play-down matches, while the women’s teams concluded their regular season with seventh game day in the second round of competition.
Women’s Enovos League: Sparta Bertrange Secure Second Place Ahead of AB Contern
The main focus heading into the final game day of the women’s regular season was the battle for second place — a position that would grant home-court advantage at the start of the playoffs. Two teams were in contention: Sparta Bertrange, who held second place, and AB Contern, trailing by a single point in the standings.
Sparta hosted Amicale Steesel and, while the visitors managed to hold them to a 15-15 tie after the first quarter, the home side took control soon after. By the start of the final quarter, Bertrange had built a commanding 29-point lead. Forward Kyaja Victoria Williams and guard Nicole Torresani played key roles, contributing a combined 45 points to Sparta’s 93-53 win.
Despite AB Contern securing an 88-65 victory over Les Sangliers Wooltz, the result had no impact on the final standings. In the upcoming semi-finals — to be played in a best-of-three format — AB Contern will begin the series away against Sparta Bertrange.
Gréngewald Hueschtert, who completed an undefeated regular season, will also begin their playoff campaign at home. They closed out their campaign with a 101-76 away win over bottom-ranked Musel Pikes. Forward Alexus Johnson delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 36 points and collecting 22 rebounds. As regular-season champions, Gréngewald will face T71 Dudelange in the semi-finals, after the latter defeated Basket Esch 81-65 in their final regular season fixture.
Game Day 7 in the second round:
Sparta Bertrange – Amicale Steinsel 94-53
AB Contern – Les Sangliers Wiltz 88-65
Musel Pikes – Gréngewald Hueschtert 76-101
T71 Dudelange – Basket Esch 81-65
Men’s Enovos League: Surprise Defeat for Basket Esch in Quarter-Finals
The opening quarter-final fixtures of the men’s Enovos League brought an unexpected result, as recent Cup winners Basket Esch suffered a home defeat against Arantia Larochette. Arantia's Scott Christophe Lindsey delivered a standout performance, scoring 49 points — hitting 8 of 14 three-pointers and an impressive 11 of 12 from two-point range. Basket Esch were without one of their key players, forward Clancy Rugg.
All other home sides secured wins in their respective quarter-final matches. Regular season champions Etzella Ettelbruck comfortably defeated Résidence Walferdange 101-76.
