On Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 February 2025, basketball matches took place across Luxembourg as part of Game Day 4 in the second round of the regular season of the Women’s Enovos League.
Gréngewald Hueschtert, the unbeaten league leaders with an 18:0 record, travelled to face Basket Esch (4:14), who still had a theoretical chance of making the playoffs if they managed a victory against the favourites, followed by wins in their remaining three games.
Esch struggled to challenge the Enovos League leader, as Gréngewald quickly took control, establishing a thirteen-point lead in the first quarter before extending their advantage to 50:30 by halftime. Amanda Brooke and Alexus Latrese Johnson made the biggest impact in the first half, scoring 16 and 12 points, respectively. The second half saw no change in momentum, with the visitors maintaining control and securing a dominant 96:60 victory. Amanda Brooke recorded a double-double, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds in 30 minutes on the court.
"I think Esch came out and fought hard. It’s been a bit of a strange week for both teams. We had players out on holiday, so it was more about getting back into the rhythm of things. I was proud of our team for executing well. We were able to run some different plays on both offence and defence, which was great," stated Gréngewald Hueschtert player Amanda Brooke in an interview with Chronicle.lu after the game.
Gréngewald Hueschtert have three games remaining in the regular season, but their top position in the league standings is already secured. "For us, it's really important that we're playing good basketball as we head into the cup finals and playoffs. We want to use these games as stepping stones to reach our best and ensure we're playing our most efficient basketball when it matters most," added Brooke.
The battle for the final playoff spot remains between two teams: T71 Dudelange and Amicale Steesel. At present, Dudelange hold the upper hand, having secured a 72:65 home victory over Les Sangliers Wiltz, improving their record to ten wins and eight losses. In contrast, Amicale Steesel suffered their tenth defeat in an away game against AB Contern (46:86), and with eight wins, they now trail Dudelange by two points.
