On Thursday 6 February 2025, the Luxembourg women's national basketball team secured a crucial victory in their penultimate match of the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers, defeating Group H underdogs Bosnia and Herzegovina in an away game.
In their first home game, Luxembourg defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 77:64. Mariusz Dziurdzia’s team arrived in Sarajevo as group leaders, level on points with Montenegro (3:1). However, Luxembourg held the top spot in the standings due to their head-to-head victory over Montenegro.
The match began with a strong start from the visitors, who quickly built a ten-point lead and ended the first half with a commanding 35:19 advantage. While both teams struggled with three-point shooting - Bosnia and Herzegovina converting just 11.5% and Luxembourg 15.4% - Mariusz Dziurdzia’s team excelled in mid-range shots, making 60% compared to the hosts’ significantly lower accuracy. This was reflected in the scoreline, as Luxembourg continued to extend their lead after the break, ultimately securing a dominant 78:37 victory. Guard Anne Simon led Luxembourg’s scoring with 25 points and added nine rebounds, while Amanda Cahill also made a significant contribution with 19 points.
With this victory, Luxembourg now sits alone at the top of Group H with nine points. Their closest rivals, Montenegro, suffered a 55:47 away defeat to Switzerland in a parallel fixture, leaving both teams with eight points and tied for second place.
On Sunday 9 February 2025, in the final round of the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers, Luxembourg will face Montenegro away, while Switzerland will host Bosnia and Herzegovina. A win would secure Mariusz Dziurdzia’s team a place in the final stage of the European Championship. Another path to qualification remains through a spot among the four best-ranked runners-up. In the event of a defeat, all possible qualification scenarios are outlined on the official website of the Luxembourg Basketball Federation (FLBB).

- Luxembourg finishes first in the group with a victory or a loss by 10 points or less
- Luxembourg finishes second in the group with a loss between 11-23 points
