The regular season of Luxembourg’s Enovos Basketball League continued over the weekend with the men’s teams playing Game Day 16 and the women’s league kicking off the second round of the championship.
Men’s Enovos League: Etzella Secure Last-Second Victory
Game Day 16 in the men’s league began on Friday 10 January 2025. League leaders Etzella Ettelbruck secured a dramatic last-second victory against Sparta Bertrange. With the score tied at 84:84 and just four seconds left in regulation, Etzella’s forward Jimmie Taylor made a difficult buzzer-beater to seal the win. Final score: Sparta Bertrange – Etzella Ettelbruck 84:86. This victory improved Etzella’s record to a league-best 15:1, while Sparta dropped to 7:9.
Also on Friday, AB Contern handed a decisive defeat to league stragglers Avanti Mondorf. Contern built a 26-point lead by the final quarter and dominated throughout, winning every quarter of the game. Despite a double-double from Mondorf’s Khalil Malik Small (23 points, 13 rebounds), Contern triumphed 78:49. Contern now holds a 10:5 record with a game in hand.
On Saturday 11 January 2025, Mambra Mamer pulled off an upset, defeating Basket Esch at home. The visitors, ranked second in the league, fell 84:78 to Mamer, who had just three wins before this game. Mamer’s centre, Domenick Sleva, led the effort with a double-double of 26 points and 22 rebounds. Mamer improved to 4:12, while Esch dropped to 10:6 and slid to fifth place in the standings.
T71 Dudelange maintained their second-place position with an 86:81 away win over Résidence Walferdange. Amicale Steesel, also at 11:5, secured a convincing 91:70 victory over Arantia Larochette.

Women’s Enovos League: Home Teams Dominate
The second round of the women’s championship began on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 January 2025 with all four matches resulting in victories for the home teams.
Unbeaten league leaders Gréngewald Hueschtert (15:0) edged out Amicale Steesel 77:72. Gréngewald’s star player Alexus Johnson delivered another impressive performance, recording a triple-double with 22 points, 20 rebounds and 13 assists.
Second-place Sparta Bertrange (12:3) defeated Les Sangliers Wiltz 84:55. Sparta’s forward Kyaja Victoria Williams contributed significantly with a double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds. The hosts had a 31-point lead at halftime, effectively deciding the game early.
AB Contern continued their chase of Bertrange with a dominant 90:54 victory over Basket Esch. Contern’s three-point shooting was a key factor, with the team converting 12 of 27 attempts (44%). Guard Esmeralda Skrijelj led the scoring with 27 points, accounting for half of the team’s three-pointers.
