On Sunday 18 October 2026, Luxembourg-based company H2oVortex announced that it has received the Water-Smart Industry Award 2026, becoming the first Luxembourg company to win a Water Europe award.

The award, presented on Tuesday 13 October during the Water Innovation Europe 2026 gala dinner in Dublin, Ireland recognised the company's IVG-CT technology, designed to improve water management in industrial cooling towers.

According to H2oVortex, the technology uses physical water conditioning to reduce freshwater consumption, improve cooling efficiency and support water reuse. It further explained that its modular design allows companies to integrate the system into existing installations.

According to the company, the solution can reduce cooling-tower water consumption by up to 50%. When combined with suitable filtration and recovery equipment, it can also enable the reuse of up to 95% of blowdown water, which cooling systems discharge to control impurity levels. Performance, reportedly, depends on site conditions and system configuration.

The company also highlighted two other milestones, stating that it is the first Luxembourg company represented on the European Commission's INCITE portal, which focuses on innovative industrial techniques, and in BOOST-IN, an EU-funded initiative mapping technologies that support water circularity.

"Water availability must be an integral part of business continuity planning, alongside energy security. These recognitions illustrate the contribution Luxembourg companies can make to addressing international industrial challenges," said Alain Mestat, Managing Partner of H2oVortex.

The company said that the technology can be used across several industries, including data centres, food and beverage production, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and energy.
