Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth has reported that the Luxembourg team achieved "historic success" at the European Skills (EuroSkills) Championships for Young People, which took place in Herning, Denmark, from Tuesday 9 to Saturday 13 September 2025.
Among the 600 candidates from across Europe, the nineteen competitors trained in the Grand Duchy ultimately won a silver medal in the landscape gardening category and four medallions of excellence in the automobile technology, web development, hotel reception, and plumbing and heating categories.
"These championships not only show that the new generation can compete at the same level as the best Europeans, but that they can even reach the podium. This demonstrates the quality of vocational training in Luxembourg and the commitment of these young people," stated Luxembourg's Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch.
The EuroSkills competition is organised every two years in a different European country and brings together the most talented young people in the fields of crafts, commerce, agriculture, health, beauty and industry. The Luxembourg candidates were selected during the national vocational championship, LuxSkills.
In Denmark, the Grand Duchy was represented by nineteen candidates and seventeen experts who trained the young people for many months and supported them during the three days of competition in seventeen categories (out of the 38 present in Herning).

The closing ceremony of Euroskills Herning 2025 was the occasion to hand over the official competition flag to Germany and Luxembourg, which will jointly host the 2027 edition in Düsseldorf.
Candidates will be able to qualify during the next edition of LuxSkills, which will take place during the "Schoulfoire" educational fair at Luxexpo The Box in Luxembourg-Kirchberg from 19 to 22 April 2026. The public is welcome to come and cheer on the young talents on-site.
