On Friday 29 October 2021, Luxembourg's Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, Franz Fayot, and the Director of Film Fund Luxembourg, Guy Daleiden, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the Fund for Young Francophone Creators (Fonds pour la Jeune Création Francophone) in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Fund for Young Francophone Creators aims to promote and support the French language as a creative tool in the film sector. The projects selected and supported contribute to the promotion of cultural diversity, the development of the local cinematographic market and to the creation of jobs in the target countries, among which are five priority partner countries of Luxembourg's development cooperation programme, namely Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Mali, Niger and Senegal.

Luxembourg's financial contribution, granted through Film Fund Luxembourg, amounts to a total of €160,000 over a period of two years (2021-22), divided equally between the two entities.
