On Tuesday 3 February 2026, Luxembourg's sprinter Patrizia Van der Weken finished second in the women’s 60m with a season-best performance at the Gold Czech Indoor Gala in Ostrava.
At the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold event, she recorded a time of 7.13 seconds in the heats, which was the fastest among all finalists.
In a comment to Chronicle.lu, her coach Arnaud Starck said: “We are very pleased with the meeting in Ostrava. After the heats, where she ran a season best of 7.13 seconds, she finished second in the final, despite a very disappointing start, and especially a reaction time of 0.218 seconds, whereas she is usually around 0.130 to 0.140.”
He added: “The starter was a bit quick and she was caught by surprise. Even so, she produced one of her best races. Over the final 30 metres, it was actually her second-best performance of all time. That is very promising for the upcoming races.”
In the final, Patrizia Van der Weken was one hundredth of a second slower, clocking 7.14 seconds to finish behind current European indoor champion Zaynab Dosso, who took victory with a time of 7.09 seconds.
This marked the third podium finish of the winter season for the Grand Duchy sprinter. Earlier this campaign, she won the 60m at the CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting in mid-January with a time of 7.14 seconds, before claiming another victory at the Meeting de Paris Indoor on Sunday 25 January 2026 in 7.16 seconds.
Looking ahead, her coach Arnaud Starck confirmed that Van der Weken will next compete in Metz this Sunday 8 February 2026, followed by the Toruń Gold Meeting on Sunday 22 February 2026, the Luxembourg National Championships on 1 March and the World Indoor Championships in Toruń on 21 March. “We are right on schedule through to March and remain fully focused on the World Indoor Championships in Toruń,” he concluded.
