On Wednesday 21 October 2026, the City of Luxembourg (VdL) announced a new call for applications to recruit supervisors to accompany children on their journeys to and from school, either on foot through the Pedibus initiative or by school bus.

The supervisors will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of schoolchildren during their journeys.

For the Pedibus service, the VdL is seeking supervisors for existing routes in several Luxembourg city’s districts, such as Beggen, Belair, Bonnevoie, Cents, Cessange, Eich/Mühlenbach, Gare, Gasperich, Hamm, Kirchberg, Limpertsberg and Rollingergrund, as well as for plannedroutes in Hollerich and Merl.

The introduction of the new routes will depend on the number of available supervisors and registered children.

VdL described Pedibus as an environmentally friendly transport initiative that operates along designated routes and fixed timetables across various neighbourhoods of the capital. Children gather at signposted stops and walk to school under adult supervision before returning to stops near their homes at the end of the school day.

Through the initiative, the VdL aims to reduce environmental impact, strengthen social cohesion, improve safety around schools and raise children's awareness of road safety. The service also encourages physical activity through walking.

VdL is also recruiting supervisors to accompany children on school buses serving Belair, Bonnevoie, Clausen, Hamm, Kirchberg and Mühlenbach (Bëschspillschoul).

Those interested in supervising Pedibus routes can complete the application form available at pedibus.vdl.lu or accompagnateur.vdl.lu, while the applications for school bus supervisors are available at accompagnateur.vdl.lu.

Completed forms should be submitted to the VdL's Education Department (Service Enseignement), School Transport Unit, at 110 Avenue Gaston Diderich, L-1420 Luxembourg, or by email to transport.scolaire@vdl.lu.
