The Grand Ducal Police have reported that as part of the “Freisener Gespräche” (Freisen Talks), the traffic police, in cooperation with the Luxembourg Customs Administration and the German traffic police, carried out a large-scale traffic inspection on Thursday 15 October 2026 on the A1 motorway near the “Aire de Wasserbillig” service area.

According to the police, the operation focused on heavy goods vehicles. In addition to checking vehicle documentation, officers inspected load securing, driving and rest periods, and the technical condition of the vehicles.

Of the 40 trucks inspected, 28 on-the-spot fines were issued and one report was submitted to the public prosecutor’s office.

Seventeen drivers had failed to comply with the prescribed driving and rest periods.

Two drivers had to secure their loads properly before they were allowed to continue their journeys.

One driver was only allowed to continue after a second-generation, version 2 tachograph had been installed.

Nine additional fines were issued for other traffic offences, including failure to wear seat belts and missing signage.
