The Grand Ducal Police have reported that two intoxicated people were taken into protective custody in separate incidents on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 October 2026.

On Wednesday, police officers noticed a man making obscene gestures towards them in Rue Large in Esch-sur-Alzette. During the subsequent check, the man appeared visibly intoxicated and disorientated. As he posed a danger to himself and others and was causing a public disturbance, he was taken into protective custody following a medical examination.

In a separate incident at around 00:30 on Thursday, police received a report of an intoxicated person in Rue de l’Avenir in Foetz. Officers at the scene found a visibly intoxicated woman who had difficulty standing without assistance. As she also posed a danger to herself and others, she was taken into protective custody following a medical examination.

Police reports were drawn up in both cases.
