The Grand Ducal Police have reported several road incidents across Luxembourg in recent days, including a serious collision involving an e-bike and an e-scooter, several drink-driving cases and the seizure of 100g of cannabis.
On Monday 28 September 2026, a serious accident occurred on Route d'Arlon in Oberfeulen, in the direction of Mertzig, involving an e-bike rider and an e-scooter rider.
According to initial information, both were travelling in the same direction when the e-scooter rider moved alongside the cyclist near the junction with Rue de Merscheid. As the cyclist also attempted to turn left, they fell and sustained life-threatening injuries.
The cyclist received medical treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital. On the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the officers seized an e-bike and two e-scooters. An investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
On Thursday 1 October 2026, police were alerted in the afternoon to a vehicle that had come to a stop in the left-hand lane of the A3 motorway. Officers found that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, with a subsequent breathalyser test returning a positive result. The vehicle was also damaged. The officers provisionally confiscated the driver's licence and issued a driving ban, while towing away the vehicle.
At around 18:00 the same day, officers spotted another vehicle driving in a zigzag manner near Hoscheid-Dickt towards Hosingen. The driver was stopped and tested positive for alcohol. Police noted damage to the passenger side of the vehicle and found that its front registration plate was missing. The plate was later located at the Pulvermühle Viaduct. Also in this case officers confiscated driver's licence and issued a provisional driving ban.
Also on the same day, police received a report of a man riding a motorcycle without a valid driving licence. Officers located the man and motorcycle on Bei der Kazebaach in Mondercange. Checks established that he did not hold a driving licence and could not provide valid insurance, while the motorcycle was not properly registered. The officers seized the motorcycle on the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Another incident occurred shortly after midnight on Friday 2 October 2026. Officers once again spotted a vehicle driving in a zigzag manner on Rue Clairefontaine in Diekirch. The driver showed clear signs of alcohol consumption and subsequently tested positive.
During the intervention, officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of 100g of cannabis. The officers also confiscated the driver's licence and drew up the relevant reports.
