On Thursday 1 October 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that several individuals were detained by officers on Wednesday 30 September because they posed a danger to themselves and others.

According to the police, at around 15:00 on Thursday they received a report of an intoxicated person on Place du Théâtre in Luxembourg-Ville who was being uncooperative towards security officers. According to initial information, a man had attempted to attack the security officers with a glass bottle. Police officers found a visibly intoxicated man who was becoming increasingly uncooperative.

Then, shortly before 16:00, the police received a report of a person on Rue de Bitbourg in Luxembourg-Hamm who refused to get off a bus. Officers found a sleeping, visibly intoxicated man on the bus who continued to refuse to leave. Further investigations revealed that the man was a suspect in a shoplifting incident that had occurred that same morning. During a body search, the suspected stolen goods were found. The man became increasingly uncooperative during the official proceedings.

Moreover, at approximately 20:00 the police received a report of a person causing a disturbance at a venue on Rue Pasteur in Dudelange. According to initial findings, an altercation had occurred between a man and two guests after the man was asked to leave the venue. Officers found the visibly intoxicated man outside the venue. As he posed a danger to himself and others, it was decided to take him to the sobering-up cell.

In all cases, the individuals were placed in police custody following a medical examination and the relevant reports were drawn up.
