On Wednesday 30 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported arrests following a shoplifting incident in Luxembourg-Gare, a burglary in Esch-sur-Alzette and a public order disturbance in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie.
According to the police, during the early hours of Monday 28 September, a break-in at a premises on Rue du Canal in Esch-sur-Alzette was reported. According to initial information, an offender gained access to the premises through a window, searched the cash register and then fled. An immediate search for the offender was successful. The suspect was found shortly afterwards on Rue Dicks. During a search of his person, a tablet and a spanner were recovered. On the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office, the suspected burglar was arrested and brought before an investigating judge on Monday afternoon.
Additionally, at around 11.40 on Monday police were notified of a shoplifting incident at a shop on Avenue de la Gare in Luxembourg-Gare. According to initial findings, two men had attempted to steal several bottles of perfume worth almost €1,000. However, one of the two men was stopped by a security guard as he was leaving the shop. A police patrol went to the scene. During a check and a search of the man, the stolen goods were recovered and returned to the shop. The man had also attempted to present himself to the police as someone else using a forged identity document. On the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office, the man was arrested and brought before an investigating judge on the morning of Tuesday 29 September.
Moreover, at approximately 19:45 on Tuesday 29 September police were called to Rue de Bonnevoie in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie, where a heavily intoxicated and disorderly man was present. He had previously behaved in a conspicuous and verbally aggressive manner towards several people and, due to his condition, posed a danger to himself and others. Following a medical examination, he was temporarily placed in police custody.
