On Friday 25 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that three driving licences were confiscated and two vehicles were seized following police checks across Luxembourg between Wednesday 23 and Friday 25 September 2026.
On the evening of 23 September 2026, police were notified of a fight at a petrol station on Boulevard Charles de Gaulle in Esch-sur-Alzette. At the scene, officers encountered a man with a head injury.
According to the initial findings, the man had got out of his vehicle, approached two other people and threatened them. He subsequently attempted to hit one of the two men. The other man defended himself, causing the suspect to fall to the ground.
Because of the earlier threats, the suspect's vehicle was searched. As the man had previously been driving the vehicle and a breathalyser test came back positive for alcohol, his driving licence was temporarily confiscated and a provisional driving ban was imposed.
Further investigations into the altercation are ongoing. A report was drawn up.
At around 21:30 on Thursday 24 September police were notified of a traffic accident on Route d’Ettelbruck in Ingeldorf.
According to the initial findings, a man who may have been under the influence of alcohol caused a rear-end collision and subsequently fled the scene in his vehicle.
Shortly afterwards, officers found the driver at his home address and located the damaged vehicle. As he showed signs of alcohol consumption, a breathalyser test was carried out and returned a positive result.
His driving licence was confiscated and a report was drawn up.
During the night of Thursday 24 to Friday 25 September 2026, the police, acting on the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, carried out several large-scale alcohol checks on the N11 in Junglinster and on Rue du Grünewald in Senningerberg.
A total of 140 motorists were checked. Two fixed-penalty notices were issued and one driving licence was confiscated.
In addition, several other offences were detected. For example, one person was found to be driving without a driving licence and their vehicle was seized on the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. In another case, a fixed-penalty notice was issued because the driver was unable to produce a valid tax vignette for their vehicle.
Moreover, shortly before 05:00 on Friday 25 September, officers stopped a vehicle on Rue d’Arlon in Windhof after it was seen driving the wrong way through a roundabout.
During the subsequent check, officers determined that the vehicle was not legally insured. On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the vehicle was seized and the relevant reports were drawn up.
