On Thursday 24 September 2026, the City of Luxembourg (VdL) warned the public about a fraudulent email circulating under its name and attempting to obtain recipients' personal data.
The authorities said the phishing email claims to concern the preparation of an "annual municipal statement and certificate of residence". Recipients are invited to click on a link to update or verify their personal information.
According to the VdL, the fraudulent email may carry the subject line: "Administration Communale - Ville de Luxembourg: Mise à jour de vos coordonnées de correspondance" (Municipal Administration - City of Luxembourg: Update of your correspondence details).
The municipality urged residents to remain vigilant and stressed that it never asks individuals to provide personal data through a link or website accessed from an email.
