The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a suspect was arrested following an altercation involving a knife in Diekirch on Saturday 19 September. Additionally, two men were detained in Esch-Sur-Alzette the same evening due to drunk and aggressive behaviour.
According to the police, at approximately 11:15 on Saturday they were notified by a security officer of a fight between several people in Diekirch. During the altercation, one man was injured with a knife by another man. The suspected perpetrator was disarmed. When the police officers arrived, the suspected perpetrator was largely calm. On the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office, he was arrested.
On the morning of Sunday 20 September, the suspected perpetrator was brought before an investigating judge.
Moreover, at around 22:30 on Saturday the police were notified of a drunk and aggressive male individual in the emergency department of a hospital in Esch-Sur-Alzette.
When a police patrol went to the scene, the man could not be calmed down despite lengthy attempts to reason with him. As he posed a danger to himself and others due to his condition, he was taken to the police holding facility following a medical examination.
Later, another man confronted the police officers, attempting to lecture them about their actions and interfere with them. As this man could also not be calmed down, he was likewise taken to the police holding facility for the night following a medical examination.
