On Saturday 19 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported two arrests in Luxembourg City over the past 24 hours, involving suspected drug trafficking and an attempted chain theft.
At around 15:00 in Luxembourg-Gare, a police patrol noticed a man suspected of being involved in drug dealing while he was sitting on the terrace of a café.
As officers approached him on foot for a check, the man reportedly became visibly nervous and left the café, at times running. He was carrying a black bag and entered an open garage, which he subsequently left without the bag.
During a subsequent check, police found two mobile phones and cash on the man. Officers then located the black bag in the garage and, during a further inspection at the police station, discovered a large quantity of drugs inside.
On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the man was arrested and the drugs and other seized items were confiscated.
Later that day, at around 17:40, another man allegedly attempted to rip a chain from another man's neck on a tram in Luxembourg City before fleeing on foot. The victim pursued him and the suspect was immobilised shortly afterwards.
The alleged perpetrator was arrested on the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office and was due to appear before an investigating judge on Saturday 19 September 2026.
