On Saturday 15 August 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported the arrest of a man in Mondorf-les-Bains who was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Portuguese authorities.
According to initial information, the man had been sentenced in Portugal to two years and nine months in prison, which he had yet to serve, in connection with violations of the country's drug laws.
As part of their investigation, the criminal investigation department located and apprehended the man at an address in Mondorf-les-Bains on Thursday 6 August 2026.
On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the man was arrested and brought before an investigating judge. Proceedings for his surrender to the Portuguese authorities have been initiated.
