On Thursday 6 August 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that a 53-year-old French motorcyclist had died following a serious traffic accident on the A7 motorway near Schieren.

According to the police, at approximately 18:25 on Thursday 6 August a car travelling from the direction of Luxembourg crossed onto the double-lane carriageway for oncoming traffic at the end of the A7 motorway, where it joins the B7 near Schieren, for reasons that are still unclear.

The car collided head-on with a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction from the north. The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries. The female driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The public prosecutor's office ordered an autopsy of the motorcyclist and tasked the accident investigation unit with determining the cause of the crash. Both the motorcycle and the car were seized as evidence.

Following the incident, the B7 was completely closed to traffic and the road administration set up the necessary diversion signage.
