The Grand Ducal Police have reported that several driving licences were revoked following drink-driving incidents which occurred on Sunday 12 July 2026.
Shortly before midday, the police received a report of a suspected intoxicated driver travelling towards a shopping centre in Oberpallen. Officers located the vehicle shortly afterwards. A breath test returned a positive result and the driver's licence was confiscated.
At around 16:00, a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle occurred between Fouhren and Bettel. According to initial information, the car driver overtook several vehicles at excessive speed before colliding with a motorcycle travelling ahead, causing the rider to fall. Both the motorcyclist and the driver were examined at the scene and taken to hospital for further checks. A breath test carried out on the car driver returned a positive result.
At around 22:00, a police patrol noticed a vehicle driving erratically between Altwies and Mondorf-les-Bains. The driver repeatedly crossed into the middle of the road and suddenly reduced speed. The vehicle was stopped and, following a positive breath test, the driver's licence was confiscated and a temporary driving ban was issued.
At around the same time, police also intervened on the A13 motorway between Mondorf-les-Bains and Altwies following reports of an argument between a driver and his passenger. According to initial findings, the driver had partially stopped the vehicle on the carriageway after the dispute, while the passenger reported having previously been threatened by the driver. A breath test carried out on the driver returned a positive result. A temporary driving ban was issued and, in addition to a report for drink driving, police also drew up a report for making threats.
