On Friday 3 July 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported developments in two separate burglary investigations, including the extradition of a long-sought suspect and the arrest of two suspected burglars in central Luxembourg.

According to the police, the first case concerns a series of burglaries targeting specialised multimedia stores across Luxembourg in 2015, which caused significant property damage and considerable financial losses.

Following an extensive investigation, investigators identified a suspect who managed to evade the Luxembourg authorities for several years. As both an international arrest warrant and a European Arrest Warrant had been issued by the Luxembourg judicial authorities, the man was recently located and arrested in an Eastern European country. After the extradition procedure was completed, he was transferred to Luxembourg.

The investigation is being continued by the Serious Organised Crime Unit (Répression du Grand-Banditisme) of the Judicial Police.

In a separate case, the Grand Ducal Police also reported that, as part of targeted operations to combat residential burglaries, officers from the Serious Organised Crime Unit arrested two suspected burglars in Moesdorf (Mersch) on Thursday 2 July 2026. The arrests were carried out on the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The Grand Ducal Police noted that both investigations remain ongoing.

The presumption of innocence applies until a final conviction has been issued.
