The Grand Ducal Police have reported four driving licences were revoked between Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 June 2026, following drink driving offences across Luxembourg. A family of three was also injured in an incident where a tractor overturned near Bürden.
According to the police, on Monday 22 June, shortly after 16:30, a vehicle travelling on the CR123 between Cruchten and Essingen collided with a small bridge wall, then veered into an adjacent embankment and overturned. The vehicle eventually came to rest on its roof. Material damage was caused to both the vehicle and the bridge wall. The driver was transported to Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHDN). According to the initial information, the driver did not sustain any major injuries. Police determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. As a result, his driving licence was confiscated.
At around 04:00 on Tuesday 23 June, at the Schifflange roundabout in the direction of Rue Drusenheim, a passenger car almost collided with a police patrol vehicle. The driver was found to be heavily intoxicated and his driving licence was revoked.
Then, at approximately 05:00 on Tuesday, a police patrol noticed a vehicle being driven erratically in a weaving manner near the Iergaertchen roundabout in the direction of Remich. The vehicle was eventually stopped near the roundabout by the Cargolux hangars. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol and a breath test returned a positive result. His driving licence was confiscated.
Shortly after, at approximately 05:15 on Tuesday, on the road between Gonnerange and Flaxweiler, another driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and his licence was revoked.
Moreover, at approximately 11:40 on Tuesday, authorities were notified of an overturned vintage tractor in a forest near Bürden. According to initial findings at the scene, the driver was travelling down a forest track when the tractor struck a hillside on its left side and subsequently overturned. As a result, all three occupants — the father, mother and their three-year-old child — became trapped to varying degrees and sustained injuries. A SAMU emergency medical team arrived at the scene and took over medical care for the injured parties.
The Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the seizure of the tractor and instructed the Crime Police's Accident Investigation and Forensic Identification Unit to determine the cause of the accident.
