On Thursday 18 June 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that an officer was injured while attempting to apprehend an e-scooter rider who had earlier evaded a police check in Athus (Belgium).

On the evening of Tuesday 16 June 2026, during a search operation for three suspects involved in a mugging incident in Lamadelaine, the police received a report that an e-scooter rider had evaded a police check by Belgian colleagues in Athus and was possibly travelling towards Pétange.

A police patrol located the reported rider a short time later near the football stadium. Despite clear instructions to stop, the e-scooter rider continued attempting to flee, resulting in a collision between the rider and one of the police officers. Both were injured and taken to hospital for examination.

A drug test carried out on the e-scooter rider returned a positive result for cannabis. Further checks also revealed that the e-scooter's maximum speed exceeded the legal limit.

On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, a report for resisting police officers was filed and the e-scooter was seized.
