On Sunday 7 June 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that two suspects were arrested following a failed robbery on a train near Leudelange on the evening of Saturday 6 June.

According to the initial information, at approximately 21:00 on Saturday 6 June the police were notified of an incident at Leudelange railway station. Initial investigations revealed that two unknown suspects had attempted to carry out a robbery in a train compartment.

When the train arrived at the station, the suspects discharged pepper spray inside the compartment. The robbery was unsuccessful, whereupon the suspects fled the scene and escaped towards a nearby wooded area. As a result of the pepper spray being discharged, several passengers suffered coughing and respiratory irritation.

An immediate search operation for the suspects was initially unsuccessful. However, at approximately 01:00 on Sunday 7 June, a police patrol located two individuals in a vacant building in the Belair district of the capital who matched the descriptions provided by witnesses. During a search of the individuals, officers also seized two canisters of pepper spray.

On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the two alleged suspects were arrested, and reports concerning both foreign nationals were drawn up.
