On Monday 1 June 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that as part of extensive and long-running investigations into a series of burglaries committed between 2019 and 2022 in Luxembourg, another significant breakthrough in the investigation had been achieved.
According to the police, the investigations targeted a criminal group from South-Eastern Europe, which is considered to be part of organised crime and is suspected of being responsible for a large number of burglaries on Luxembourg territory. The investigations were conducted by the Luxembourg police and judicial authorities in close cooperation with international partners.
The police said that thanks to excellent cooperation between the competent police and judicial authorities of Luxembourg and the Republic of Serbia, another individual suspected of having participated in a large number of burglaries in the Grand Duchy had been arrested and extradited to Luxembourg.
The individual was brought before an investigating judge, who issued a detention order.
The Major Crime Repression Unit of the Judicial Police Service is conducting the investigation under the supervision of an investigating judge of the Luxembourg district court.
The police noted that presumption of innocence applies until a final court judgment is delivered.
