On Sunday 31 May 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that two individuals were arrested in Esch-sur-Alzette across the weekend following incidents where drugs were found in their possession.

According to the initial information, at approximately 06:00 on Saturday 30 May, police officers encountered a small gathering of people outside a premises on Rue Ernie Reitz in Esch-sur-Alzette. Within the group, two men were observed pushing each other. One of the individuals involved was uncooperative towards the police and was subsequently subjected to a check. During a search of his person, a significant quantity of narcotic substances was found in his possession.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered the seizure of the narcotic substances as well as the mobile telephone. Following a medical examination, the man was taken to a police custody cell. A report was drawn up.

At approximately 02:00 on Sunday 31 May, police attempted to stop a vehicle on Grand-Rue in Esch-sur-Alzette for a check. The vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene. Police immediately began a pursuit using blue lights but initially lost sight of the vehicle. Shortly afterwards, another patrol became aware of the vehicle when a loud crash was heard near the junction of Rue de Belvaux and Rue Jean-Pierre Michels.

Officers at the scene established that the vehicle had collided with two other cars and a bus. The driver of the suspected vehicle fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later by another patrol on Place des Franciscains. There were indications that the driver had consumed excessive alcohol and may also have used drugs. Narcotic substances were found in his possession. He was also subject to a driving ban. An occupant of one of the two damaged cars was injured.

On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspected offender was arrested and was due to appear before an investigating judge at midday on Sunday 31 May. An additional driving ban was also imposed and report was drawn up.
