The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a large-scale police operation took place in the capital's train station district (Luxembourg-Gare) on the afternoon of Thursday 21 May 2026.
According to the police, the operation primarily focused on enforcing regulations relating to licensed premises (compliance with liquor laws), as well as identifying violations of drug and immigration laws.
During checks at a bar on Rue Joseph Junck, a police drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to several individuals, who were subsequently subjected to more detailed searches. The police said they found a pistol and a large sum of cash on one of the individuals searched. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect was arrested and was due to appear before an investigating judge on the morning of Friday 22 May 2026.
The police also reported that one person received a formal fine and another was the subject of an official report, both in connection with violations of drug legislation.
A total of 24 police officers, including a member of the canine unit, took part in the operation.
