On Wednesday 20 May 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that since the beginning of 2026, it had, in total, arrested nearly 100 suspected drug dealers, the majority of which were apprehended in Luxembourg City.

The Grand Ducal Police said that in comparison, during 2025, the total number of suspected dealers apprehended stood at 216. Of these, 192 were caught in the act, while the remaining 24 were arrested under an arrest warrant.

The police said that the fight against crime linked to the illicit drug trade remains an absolute priority and, operationally, it will continued to strengthen its visible and deterrent presence in areas identified as sensitive and favourable to drug trafficking, while also relying on targeted checks and operations involving offenders caught in the act.

From Friday 1 May 2026, the Grand Ducal Police extended the opening hours of the Luxembourg-Ville police station as part of efforts to strengthen the visible police presence in strategic locations. Located on Rue du Fossé, the station is now staffed 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

The opening hours of the Gare/Hollerich police station were already extended at the end of 2024, also with the aim to ensure public safety and prevent incidents.
