The Grand Ducal Police have reported that they carried out alcohol checks on motorists in northern Luxembourg on Sunday 29 March 2026.

Between 16:00 and 19:30, officers conducted the checks at the request of the State Prosecutor, in accordance with the relevant traffic regulations.

The checks took place at the following locations:

  • Vianden (N10) at the intersection of Route de Bettel, Rue de Huy and Rue Moenchkelterhaus;
  • Gilsdorf (N17) on Rue Clairefontaine;
  • Erpeldange-sur-Sûre (N27) on Porte des Ardennes.

A total of 706 drivers underwent a preliminary breathalyser test, even in the absence of any obvious signs of alcohol consumption.

Two tests came back positive, resulting in one report and one on-the-spot fine. No driving licences were confiscated.

Police also recorded five additional traffic offences during the operation, issuing five fines.
