On Thursday 26 March 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that two drivers were penalised following drink-driving incidents which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 March in south Luxembourg.

According to the initial information, shortly after 02:30 on Wednesday 25 March a police patrol on the A4 towards Pontpierre noticed a vehicle stationary on the hard shoulder. The vehicle had run out of petrol. As officers suspected alcohol consumption by the driver, a breathalyser test was conducted. The result was positive and a provisional driving ban was issued.

Then, before 06:00 on Thursday 26 March, police officers on Rue de l’Eglise in Petingen observed a vehicle partially parked on the pavement with its lights on. As the officers approached the vehicle, they noticed the engine was still running and the driver was asleep at the wheel. The driver displayed clear signs of alcohol consumption. A breathalyser test was carried out, which returned a positive result, and a summons report was subsequently issued by the officers.
