On Monday 23 March 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that several police units were dispatched to Bascharage following a report of a hostage situation.
According to the initial information, shortly before 08:00 on Monday 23 March the police received a report of a hostage situation at a supermarket on Avenue de Luxembourg in Bascharage.
Several units, including the police special unit, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The immediate vicinity of the supermarket was promptly cordoned off. Officers then carried out the necessary checks inside the premises.
At approximately 09:15, the police reported that that no such incident could be confirmed and investigations into the background of the report are ongoing.
