The Grand Ducal Police have reported several alcohol-related incidents and traffic offences that took place on Saturday 7 February 2026 and during the night into Sunday 8 February 2026.
On Saturday night at around 23:00, police officers on Rue de Strasbourg in Luxembourg City noticed a man whose behaviour was harassing and intimidating passers-by. According to the initial information, the individual attempted to evade a police check but was apprehended shortly afterwards. As his behaviour posed a danger to himself and others, he was placed in custody after undergoing a medical examination.
In a separate incident early on Sunday morning, shortly before 08:00, police were alerted to a disturbance involving three men arguing with security staff outside a venue on Rue Fort Neipperg in Luxembourg City. According to the initial information, one of the individuals refused to comply with officers’ instructions and could not be calmed down. Due to his intoxicated state and the risk he posed, he was also placed in custody following a medical examination.
Police also reported several drink-driving incidents over the weekend. On Saturday evening at around 19:00, officers in Leudelange noticed a vehicle that had been involved in an accident. During the check, the driver showed signs of alcohol consumption. A breathalyser test returned positive, the vehicle was towed away and the driving licence was withdrawn.
During the night into Sunday, at around 02:30, a patrol on the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge stopped a vehicle travelling at excessive speed. According to the initial information, the driver showed signs of alcohol consumption and tested positive. A provisional driving ban was issued and, as several vehicle documents were not in order, the car was towed away.
Later that night, at around 04:00, police officers noticed a vehicle driving in a zigzag manner from Wintger towards Lentzweiler and at times crossing into the oncoming lane. The driver tested positive for alcohol, the driving licence was confiscated and a report was drawn up.
Around the same time, during a general traffic check in Fridhaff, police observed another vehicle driving erratically towards Ettelbruck. The driver also tested positive for alcohol. The vehicle was immobilised and the driving licence was withdrawn.
