The Grand Ducal Police have reported that following a knife attack in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg on Tuesday 27 January 2026, a woman has died from her injuries while another remains in serious condition.
According to the initial information, at around 14:20 on Tuesday, the police in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg were notified of two injured persons. The police said a perpetrator had attacked the two women with a knife before fleeing the scene. Both were seriously injured, with one of the women succumbing to her injuries shortly afterwards. The second was admitted to hospital with severe injuries.
Subsequently, the suspected attacker was involved in a traffic collision in Limpertsberg with another vehicle but continued to flee. During the ensuing manhunt, the suspect was apprehended by the police between Bridel and the Freiheitsbaum. A wider search remains ongoing to rule out the involvement of any additional perpetrators.
The Criminal Investigation Department have been tasked with investigating the exact circumstances of the incident and the motives behind it.
