On Thursday 27 November 2025, the Grand Ducal Police reported that, as part of its “Wanterzäit” campaign and in line with efforts to combat burglary, it had conducted a major traffic check in Echternach on the evening of 26 November 2025.
According to the police, between 16:30 and 18:40 on Thursday, police officers and the Customs and Excise Administration carried out checks on Route de Wasserbillig in Echternach.
During the operation, ten drivers were issued fines for failing to present a valid technical inspection certificate (£145 fine and two penalty points each). In eight cases, the vehicle’s tax disc had expired (£74 fine), and in two further cases it had been expired for over 60 days (£250 fine).
Moreover, officers discovered that three drivers had not registered their vehicles (£145 fine and two penalty points each).
