The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a number of drivers across Luxembourg failed alcohol and drug tests from the morning of Sunday 3 to the early hours of Monday 4 August 2025.

According to the police, on the morning of Sunday 3 August 2025, a report was received of a vehicle on the N15 in Heiderscheid driving erratically in the direction of Feulen and repeatedly veering into oncoming traffic. A police patrol was  dispatched and located the driver shortly afterwards. The driver tested positive for alcohol and a provisional driving ban was issued.

During the early hours of Monday of 4 August 2025, a police patrol noticed a vehicle in Pétange driving without headlights and swerving from Rue de l’Église towards Route de Luxembourg. Officers signalled for the driver to stop, but the driver sped up, prompting the officers to give chase. Near Route de Longwy, the driver hit a parked car and continued driving dangerously towards Rodange. On the CR176, the vehicle briefly stopped, allowing officers to approach. However, the driver accelerated again and ran over one officer’s foot, injuring him. In Rue de Lasauvage, the driver struck another parked car and finally came to a stop. Officers discovered the driver held no driving licence and a roadside drug test returned a positive result. A police report was filed against the driver.

Furthermore, in the early hours of Monday 4 August 2025, officers in Luxembourg City noticed a vehicle driving erratically on Rue de Bonnevoie. They stopped the car shortly after on Rue du Cimetière. The driver tested positive for alcohol and officers confiscated his licence.
