The Grand Ducal Police have announced they conducted extensive alcohol level checks between the hours of 01:15 and 03:45 on Tuesday 29 July 2025, in Ellange and Remich.

The operation took place at the request of the Public Prosecutor, in accordance with Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 on traffic regulations on public roads.

According to the police, a total of 217 drivers were subjected to preliminary breath tests, even in the absence of any serious indication of impairment, on Route de Remich (N16) in Ellange-Gare and on Route de Mondorf in Remich.

In sixteen cases, the drivers tested positive, resulting in either on-the-spot fines or official reports being filed.

In three cases, police immediately withdrew driving licences.

One official report was also filed for driving under the influence of drugs.
