The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a fatal accident occurred on the A6 motorway on Thursday 17 July 2025.

Shortly before 19:00 on Thursday, a serious accident took place on the A6 in the direction of Belgium, between the Steinfort exit and the Belgian border, in which three people were hit by a lorry.

According to initial information, the individuals had exited their vehicle to inspect an issue with the vehicle.

Despite receiving emergency medical treatment, two women from France, aged 49 and 22 respectively, died at the scene from their serious injuries. Another woman was injured in the accident and taken to a hospital after receiving initial treatment.

The public prosecutor's office was informed and commissioned the relevant police department to conduct an accident investigation.

The road was closed to traffic for the duration of the rescue operations.

The police have launched a call for witnesses who may have relevant information about the circumstances of the accident. Witnesses are asked to contact the traffic police unit via email: upr.sia@police.etat.lu.
