The Grand Ducal Police have warned again of online banking scams in Luxembourg.

The police said they have been informed of several cases in which online banking users have fallen victim to fake, yet seemingly authentic, online banking portals. Victims typically access these fraudulent sites by using a search engine and then clicking on the displayed link.

The police reiterated that, for security reasons, online banking transactions should always be carried out either through the bank's official app or through the official URL of the online banking portal. They advised bookmarking the official web address of the online banking portal in one's browser. The police added that online banking portals should never be accessed via a link displayed in a search engine.

Moreover, the police urged members of the public to inform and raise awareness among the older citizens about this scam.

Anyone who has suffered harm as a result of such fraudulent websites is advised to contact a police station of their choice.
