On Friday 13 June 2025, lux-Airport issued a press release in relation to the temporary closure of Luxembourg airport’s runway.

According to the press release, local damage forced authorities to close the runway at approximately 19:05 to allow for inspections and repairs to take place. According to the airport operator, this resulted in multiple delays, flight diversions and cancellations.

Lux-Airport confirmed that as of 22:00 the runway was operational again but only in a reduced-length capacity.

On Saturday 14 June 2025, Luxair reported that the incident caused “significant operational disruption” to the airline, forcing the cancellation of sixteen outbound and inbound flights and the diversion of two additional flights, affecting more than 1,400 passengers.
