
The Grand Ducal Police have reported that officers conducted a large-scale crime check on public transport in Luxembourg City on the afternoon of Thursday 10 April 2025.
A total of 23 police officers, including two officers from the police dog unit, participated in this control operation, which uncovered various violations.
The focus of the check was on the tram route between the capital's train station district (Luxembourg-Gare) and the Hamilius tram stop, as well as the funicular railway in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
The police stopped a total of 69 people during the check. One person was flagged down and taken to the detention centre (Centre de Rétention, i.e. holding facility for illegal migrants). In three cases, officers drew up a report for drug law offences. The police also confiscated 11 grams of marijuana and 10 grams of hashish.
Another person had their fingerprints taken and the police drew up a "Fremdennotiz" report (relating to immigration).
