
The Grand Ducal Police have reported that separate possible attempted murder and stabbing incidents took place over the weekend.
At around 03:20 on Sunday 6 April 2025, a police patrol was dispatched to the accident and emergency (A&E) room of the hospital in Esch-sur-Alzette in response to an aggressive individual. On-site, the officers discovered that the individual was accompanying his friend to A&E with a neck injury. It was determined that the man had sustained a deep cut to his neck. According to the police, his injury was not life-threatening. Initial findings indicated that the incident occurred in front of a bar on Boulevard Prince Henri in Esch-sur-Alzette. An investigation is currently underway, with the police referring to the incident as attempted homicide.
Update: The police later reported that further investigations identified a suspect and secured the alleged attempted murder weapon. By order of the public prosecutor, the suspect was arrested on Sunday evening and brought before an investigating judge on the morning of Monday 7 April 2025.
Earlier, at about 18:10 on Saturday 5 April 2025, the police received reports that a man had been stabbed in a single-family home on Rue de Hussigny in Differdange. Officers went to the scene, where they found that two people had sustained cuts. One person had to be directly taken to hospital and underwent emergency surgery. The police arrested three suspects in connection with the incident, two of whom were brought before the investigating judge on Sunday morning. The exact course of events is currently being investigated.
