The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a fatal accident occurred on the N31 road on Sunday morning.
At around 08:30 on Sunday 6 April 2025, a car collided with a delivery van on the N31 between Bascharage and Pétange. According to initial findings, the car driver, headed toward Pétange, lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason and crossed into the oncoming lane, where he collided with an oncoming delivery van.
The impact caused the delivery van to be thrown backward several metres into a ditch. The van was so badly damaged in the collision that the two occupants - a man and a woman - were ejected from the vehicle. The three people involved in the accident were taken to hospital with serious to life-threatening injuries. The 22-year-old woman later died from her injuries in hospital.
The public prosecutor's office was informed and commissioned the forensics unit to investigate the accident. A large section of the road was closed to traffic for the duration of the rescue operation.
