Luxembourg's Ministry of State, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the High Commission for National Protection (HCPN) and the Grand Ducal Police have reported that a "LU-Alert" test alert SMS message is being sent out on Monday 3 March 2025.
The government is continuing the implementation of its strategy for testing the "LU-Alert" public warning and information system with the monthly test of the siren network and a zonal test of SMS messages. The latter is being tested in the municipalities of Leudelange, Reckange-sur-Mess, Mondercange, Schifflange and Esch-sur-Alzette.
Following the tests previously carried out by other public authorities, this time the Grand Ducal Police is sending out a test message by SMS. This test message, containing a police alert, is being sent out in parallel on the "LU-Alert" mobile application as well as on the website www.lu-alert.lu.
Since this is a test alert, there is no need to act or to adopt any particular behaviour.
The authorities also recalled that the "LU-Alert" system does not operate on the basis of registrations. This means that all mobile devices connected to a Luxembourg mobile network antenna at the time the transmission of the test SMS message is triggered are targeted and will receive the message.
Additional information and a FAQ section are also available on the LU-Alert website.
